At every stage of Abby’s development, I think it’s reached the most fun stage possible, but it keeps getting more entertaining. Jonathan says this continues, and I think Justin is 6 now, and it’s just gotten more fun. So I guess many good times to come.

That said, it’s a little sad the things she leaves behind. For example, her pronunciation. Or more accurately, her mispronunciations. They’re hilarious. And I can’t help but be a little wistful when she outgrows them. In the past, she’s crazily mispronounced people’s names, but it has a certain charm, and I kind of miss that.

Recently, her use of the ‘y’ sound to replace ‘l’ has been particularly emphatic. “Yotion”. “Coyor”. “Yemon” (Soph taught her to stick her tongue out to make the ‘l’ sound when saying “lemon”, but she just sticks out her tongue and then proceeds to say “yemon”). It’s amusing.

Anyway, the other day in the car, she asked, “where’s my yunchbox?” Most of the time when we talk with her, we repeat what she says to reinforce that we understood her. And since “yunchbox” sounds so funny, Jieun and I kept saying back and forth to each other, “where’s my yunchbox?”

And then Abby made a kind of hurt face, stuck up her hand and said, “don’t talk!” Dang. That made us feel like total jerks. We weren’t being malicious, but we were making fun of her, and she realized it. And she expressed it in the only way she knew how. I suck. That’s the worst I’ve felt in a while.
