Ugh, terrible picture, but it's the best I could salvage. So part of the reason I went out was for us to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. Jieun was away on the actual day, so we did a belated celebration, including dinner at a nice restaurant, Cafe Boulud. The food was quite nice. In fact, Jieun called the seafood salad she ordered the best thing she'd ever tasted. She was pretty emphatic about it. She insisted our server give her compliments to the chef and went on and on about how it was the best dish she'd ever had. I'll be honest, he was slightly freaked out. But yeah, it was pretty good. I had a lobster chowder that was also divine. The mains were a little less impressive, but a great meal overall.
One random note is that our server was Indian. I dunno, the only time I've had an Indian waiter prior was at Indian restaurants, so I was mildly surprised. Maybe that makes me racist.
Another note. So we took the subway there. One thing I never knew about New York (there's a ton I didn't know) was that uptown and downtown mean literally up (north) and down (south) Manhattan. Never knew that. Mostly because no where else in America that I'm aware of does downtown literally mean southward. Usually it means some "central" area of the city. I guess that all started with the financial district in Manhattan? No clue.
